The seventh annual Calumet County CP Feeds Futurity will be held at the 2022 Calumet County Fair Chilton this weekend. Hosted by the Calumet County Holstein Breeders, the competition will be held on September 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Harder-Goeldi building.
A Futurity is unique non-traditional dairy cattle show where exhibitors enter animals as calves and then show them as three-year old cows. Exhibitors wear formal attire as they display their animals in front of a dairy cattle judge. Cash awards are distributed to the exhibitors for the top placed animals and prizes are given out for best dressed exhibitor, first junior owned cow, top bred and owned cow along with the highest milk production awards.
Organizers say the event is a fantastic opportunity for local dairy farmers to highlight their outstanding dairy cattle, inform the public of the care of their animals and the dairy products they produce.
Meanwhile, fairgoers who attend the Futurity will will be encouraged to vote via text message for the best dressed male and female exhibitor.
