Women's Conservation Field Day Planned for September 8

Wisconsin Women in Conservation is offering a series of on-farm conservation field days across the state throughout the summer. The next program takes place on September 8 at Bouressa Family Farm in New London from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

WiWiC Conservation Coach Rachel Bouressa, who is the fifth generation on the farm, will lead a tour of the pastures and integrated conservation practices. She raises grass-fed beef cattle in a managed-grazing rotational system that prioritizes soil health. The event is free and open to all interested women farmers, landowners and conservationists.

"I believe that we have the unique opportunity to be stewards of the land for only a brief period of its time," says Bouressa, who raises grass fed and finished beef for direct market. "Utilizing the cattle to manage the land as a resource brings a great deal of joy and pride to me, while also providing a valuable service and role within my community."

WiWiC is a state-wide collaborative effort led by the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute in partnership with Wisconsin Farmers Union, Renewing the Countryside and Marbleseed

Fresh pie will be served after the farm tour. To register, go to: www.WiWiC.org.
