Celebrating 30 Years of Wisconsin Agritourism with WATA

The Wisconsin Agricultural Tourism Association (WATA) celebrated its 30th anniversary on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Badger Farms by Deerfield. The event was an opportunity for WATA members to network with each other, learn about the organization's latest initiatives, and celebrate the past 30 years of agritourism in Wisconsin.

WATA is a non-profit organization that promotes and preserves the rural lifestyle, fosters partnership opportunities within the agritourism community, and provides tools which encourage sustainable economic growth while creating awareness of Wisconsin agriculture. The organization's membership includes growers, farmers, bakers, cheesemakers, farmers markets, wineries, breweries, distilleries, corn mazes, wedding venues, historic agriculture, petting farms, farm stay vacations, and orchards.

The day started with a tour of Badger Farms by Deerfield, a locally owned and operated wedding barn that opened in 2006. Along with beautiful country weddings, Badger Farms also handles special events like banquets, reunions, proms, private dinners, and meetings.

After the tour, attendees enjoyed a luncheon and a presentation from WATA's executive director, Kim Rademacher. Rademacher discussed the organization's mission and goals, as well as some of the challenges and opportunities facing the agritourism industry in Wisconsin.

The event also featured a number of networking opportunities, including a vendor fair and a meet-and-greet with WATA members. Attendees had the chance to learn about the different agritourism businesses in Wisconsin and to connect with other professionals in the industry.

The 30th anniversary celebration of WATA was a great opportunity to celebrate the past and look to the future of agritourism in Wisconsin. The event was well-attended and featured a number of interesting speakers and activities. WATA is a valuable resource for agritourism businesses in Wisconsin, and the organization's 30th anniversary celebration was a great way to highlight its work.
