The Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association will honor one of its longtime supporters next month with its Daluge Red Jacket Award. The late-Jim Crowley, Jr. will be recognized posthumously during the WALSAA Football Fire-Up on September 10 in Madison.
Crowley served on the WALSAA Board for six years and was president of the organization from 2002-03. He was an active member of WALSAA and served the organization as a key planner of the WALSAA Football Fire-Up tailgate event for 25 years. The Fire-Up events were a great success due to his involvement.
Jim graduated from UW-Madison with a PhD in veterinary science in 1978 and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He not only volunteered with WALSAA, but he served as World Dairy Expo Dairy Superintendent and Brown Swiss Superintendent for many years.
The award honors Rick Daluge, who was WALSAA's executive director for many years and a founding member of the National Ag Alumni and Development Association. He also served as CALS Placement Director and CALS Assistant Dean before retiring in 2008.
A red jacket will be presented each year to someone who helped WALSAA through means of support.
