Dairy exports flourish with CWT deals

Dairy exports flourish with CWT deals

By Jamie Martin

In October, Cooperatives Working Together (CWT) member cooperatives successfully secured 89 new export contracts, amounting to 11.2 million pounds of dairy products for global markets. This substantial export activity translates to 100.9 million pounds of milk on a milkfat basis, expanding U.S. dairy's reach worldwide.

The secured products will be shipped to various regions, including Asia, Oceania, the Middle East-North Africa, Europe, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America, between October 2024 and June 2025.

The dairy export industry plays a critical role in sustaining dairy farmers and cooperatives across the United States. Exporting products like cheese, butter, cream cheese, and whole milk powder helps stabilize the industry and provides growth opportunities in international markets. CWT enables U.S. dairy products to enter global markets, addressing trade barriers and competition from international dairy producers.

The recorded amounts for these contracts reflect product volumes scheduled for delivery, not completed export totals. CWT provides financial export assistance to bidders upon successful export and delivery, verified by required documentation submission. This process ensures that U.S. dairy products are competitively positioned in international markets, contributing to the long-term viability of dairy cooperatives.
