DATCP Announces Record Number of Applicants for 2023 Meat Processor Infrastructure Grant

DATCP Announces Record Number of Applicants for 2023 Meat Processor Infrastructure Grant

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has announced a record number of applicants for the 2023 Meat Processor Infrastructure Grant. The grant program, which provides funding to small and medium-sized meat processors to upgrade and modernize their facilities, has received a total of 85 applications this year.

The grant program is aimed at addressing the challenges faced by small and medium-sized meat processors in Wisconsin, such as outdated facilities and equipment, and a shortage of skilled labor. The program provides funding to help processors improve their facilities, upgrade equipment, and expand capacity, which can ultimately lead to increased production and sales.

This year's record number of applicants is a testament to the program's success in addressing the needs of the state's meat processors. It also highlights the growing demand for locally sourced and processed meat products, as more consumers seek out high-quality, sustainable, and locally produced foods.

The increased funding opportunities provided by the Meat Processor Infrastructure Grant will not only benefit meat processors but also the entire agricultural industry in Wisconsin. By supporting local meat processors, the program helps to promote the growth and sustainability of small and medium-sized farms, which are the backbone of Wisconsin's agricultural economy.

The record number of applicants for the 2023 Meat Processor Infrastructure Grant reflects the program's importance in supporting the state's meat processing industry and promoting local agriculture. The DATCP's continued investment in this program will help to ensure the long-term success of the state's agricultural sector.
