Professional Dairy Producers (PDP) is hosting two farm tours focused on showcasing the latest advancements in dairy technology.
These events will provide dairy producers and industry professionals with the opportunity to see new technologies, equipment, and practices in action and learn from their peers.
The first tour will take place on August 21st at Haas Dairy in Colby, Wisconsin. This farm utilizes robotic milking, activity and rumination monitoring, and a cross-ventilated, sand-bedded barn.
Jeremy and Katie Haas, the farm owners, will share their experiences and insights into these technologies.
The second tour will be held on August 22nd at Trillium Hill Farm in Berlin, Wisconsin. This larger operation employs a double 24 parallel parlor and innovative feed-pad design.
The Jones family, owners of Trillium Hill Farm, will discuss their use of technology and its impact on their dairy operation.
“PDP Innovation & Technology Farm Tours are incredibly valuable to dairy farmers because they allow us to not only tour facilities and ask questions of the farm operators, but also to share ideas and get feedback from everyone else on the tour,” said Paul Lippert, vice president of PDP board of directors and dairy producer from Pittsville, Wis. “Investing in new technologies or equipment is a big decision for dairy farms of any size, so gathering input and hearing what worked and doesn’t work from peers is critical.”
Both tours will run from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and are sponsored by DeLaval. Attendees are encouraged to carpool.
These farm tours offer a unique opportunity to learn about cutting-edge dairy technologies and their potential benefits. By sharing knowledge and experiences, dairy producers can make informed decisions about adopting new practices to improve their operations and profitability.
