By Blake Jackson

Jacob Harbaugh, a dedicated dairy enthusiast from Shawano County, Wisconsin, has been recognized as the 20th recipient of the prestigious Merle Howard Award at the World Dairy Expo. This award celebrates individuals who exemplify excellence in the dairy industry through their passion, hard work, and commitment.

Harbaugh's journey in the dairy industry began at a young age, showcasing his cattle at local shows and gradually progressing to state, regional, and national competitions.

Jacob entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own fitting business during the pandemic, offering his services at sales, shows, and herd classifications.

Beyond his accomplishments in the show ring, Harbaugh has excelled in various academic and extracurricular activities. He has participated in speaking contests, Dairy Jeopardy, and Dairy Bowl competitions, demonstrating his knowledge and skills.

Jacob dedication to dairy cattle judging has also been recognized, with his county team winning the 2023 Wisconsin State Dairy Cattle Judging Contest and earning him an All-American ranking at World Dairy Expo.

Harbaugh's impressive achievements in the show ring include earning Reserve Junior Champion of the International Junior Holstein Show and Junior Champion Brown Swiss in both the Junior and Open Show at World Dairy Expo.

Jacob recent success in the Brown Swiss Fall Calf Class further solidified his reputation as a top-notch exhibitor.

When not competing or attending school, Harbaugh can be found working tirelessly at Bella-View Farms, caring for heifers and preparing them for shows.

Jacob dedication and expertise have significantly contributed to the farm's success in breeding and exhibiting high-quality dairy cattle.

Harbaugh's commitment to the dairy industry extends beyond his personal achievements. He has been recognized with the 2023 Star in Agribusiness award by the Wisconsin FFA and was one of six individuals to receive the Distinguished Junior Holstein member award from Holstein Association USA.
