Join the Sauk County Land Resources and Environment Department and the Wisconsin Farmland Protection Partnership for an engaging Silvopasture Walk on Thursday, August 29th, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This event will take place at the Savanna Institute’s North Farm in Spring Green, Wisconsin, providing a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of forestry and grazing.
Silvopasture is more than simply integrating trees with pastureland; it’s a strategic approach to managing ecosystems and agricultural production.
During the walk, participants will gain insights into silvopasture practices, such as adding trees to grazing areas, developing appropriate grazing infrastructure, and understanding the associated soil health benefits.
Additionally, the discussion will cover financial resources available for implementing silvopasture practices, offering practical guidance for farmers and land managers.
Attendees should come prepared for outdoor conditions, as the walk will take place on a working farm. The tour includes a mild incline hike along a gravel drive, covering about one mile.
This event is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in sustainable agriculture and soil health to learn about the benefits and practicalities of silvopasture. Don’t miss this chance to deepen your understanding of this innovative land management practice.
