Register Now - Dairy Calving and Neonatal Care Training

By Blake Jackson

Proper training of farm personnel plays a crucial role in enhancing animal welfare, improving performance, and increasing farm profitability.

To support dairy and beef farms, the UW-Extension Dairy Program is offering a specialized workshop titled "Calving Management Practices and Neonate Care in Dairy Cattle."

This hands-on program aims to equip farm employees with essential knowledge on recognizing signs of imminent birth, managing the calving process, and reducing stillbirth rates.

Attendees will learn best practices for calving assistance, ensuring the well-being of first-calf heifers and cows. Additionally, the workshop will emphasize the importance of proper calf management and neonate care to promote healthy development after birth.

A key highlight of the event is a hands-on demonstration, where participants will practice calving techniques on a cow model.

This interactive session will help reinforce proper procedures and guidelines for effective calving management.
