USDA trade mission targets Moroccan Ag market

USDA trade mission targets Moroccan Ag market

By Jamie Martin

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announces an upcoming agribusiness trade mission to Casablanca, Morocco, scheduled for December 2-5, 2024.

Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Alexis M. Taylor will lead the mission, emphasizing the strategic opportunity to penetrate Morocco’s thriving market and by extension, the wider African market.

Morocco ranks as the second-largest export market for U.S. agricultural products in Africa, with sales exceeding $619 million last year. This accounts for 16 percent of all U.S. agricultural exports to the continent, showing significant growth since the U.S.-Morocco Free Trade Agreement was implemented in 2006.

The mission targets both current and potential U.S. exporters, who have until August 28 to apply. It promises extensive networking opportunities, including business-to-business meetings with potential importers from Morocco and other West African countries like Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.

Participants will also benefit from detailed market briefings provided by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service and regional trade experts, designed to aid U.S. companies in understanding and seizing market opportunities.

This mission is pivotal for U.S. exporters looking to expand their reach in sectors such as dairy, beef, seafood, and more within a growing Moroccan economy and its demand-driven food processing sector.
