Wisconsin Agriculture Groups Rally for Legislative Support

Wisconsin Agriculture Groups Rally for Legislative Support

Wisconsin's agriculture industry is calling on legislators to show their support for LRB 2553 and 2631, two bills designed to aid farmers in the state. More than 30 agricultural organizations have united in support of these bills, which would provide much-needed assistance to farmers facing challenges such as low crop prices, natural disasters, and economic downturns.

The proposed legislation would establish a grant program to help farmers with the cost of implementing conservation practices, as well as create a program to provide funding for farmers to develop and implement on-farm renewable energy projects.

Additionally, the bills aim to improve the mental health of farmers by providing funding for resources and services to address the issue.

The coalition of organizations is calling on lawmakers to prioritize the bills, emphasizing that they are crucial to the survival of Wisconsin's agriculture industry. The groups argue that farmers are facing unprecedented challenges, and need support to ensure their businesses can continue to operate.

The Wisconsin Farm Bureau, one of the organizations involved in the coalition, stated that these bills would provide a lifeline for farmers struggling to keep their operations afloat. The bureau also emphasized that the bills would have a positive impact on the environment, by incentivizing farmers to adopt sustainable practices and reducing carbon emissions.

Overall, the coalition is urging legislators to take action and pass the bills, which they believe will provide much-needed support for farmers and help to secure the future of Wisconsin's agriculture industry.
