Wisconsin Corn promotion board accepting nominations

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is currently accepting nominations for three seats on the Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board. Eligible producers who grow and sell corn in Districts 3, 5, or 6 can either nominate themselves or suggest nominations to the board.

Nominations will be accepted until November 1, 2023. To be eligible for nomination, producers must grow and sell corn in specific counties within each district. These counties include:

  • District 3: Brown, Calumet, Door, Florence, Fond du Lac, Forest, Kewaunee, Langlade, Manitowoc, Marinette, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, Sheboygan, and Winnebago.
  • District 5: Crawford, Grant, Iowa, LaCrosse, Lafayette, Richland, and Vernon.
  • District 6: Dane and Sauk.

Producers can request nomination forms from DATCP by emailing DATCPMarketOrders@Wisconsin.gov or calling (608) 224-5116. Completed nomination forms must be signed, notarized, and postmarked by November 1, 2023, and should include signatures from at least five eligible corn growers other than the nominee. Mailed forms should be sent to WI DATCP, DAD, P.O. Box 8911, Madison, WI 53708-8911.

The Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board election will be conducted from December 5, 2023, through January 10, 2024. Those elected will serve three-year terms starting on February 1, 2024.

The Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board comprises nine producers across the state, each representing different districts. The board oversees the allocation and utilization of approximately $1.7 million in assessment fees paid by Wisconsin corn growers. These funds are dedicated to supporting the corn industry through research, education, and the promotion of locally grown corn.
