The Wisconsin Beef Council and Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Association are accepting applications for the second class of the Wisconsin Beef Leadership Institute. Interested individuals can apply through February 15, 2025.
Participants selected for the program will engage in a series of educational sessions aimed at developing local advocates for the beef industry.
The program focuses on building communication skills and expanding participants’ understanding of the beef sector.
Graduates will use their expertise to support the missions of both the Wisconsin Beef Council and the Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Association.
The Wisconsin Beef Council, a producer-led non-profit funded by the $1.00 per head Beef Checkoff, focuses on promoting and educating about Wisconsin’s beef industry.
Through the institute, participants will learn to effectively communicate the "farm-to-fork" journey of beef. Sessions will include topics such as storytelling, working with media, and personal skill development.
The Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Association advocates for the state’s beef producers at local, regional, and national levels. This organization collaborates with industry partners to create a favorable business climate for cattle producers.
As part of the program, participants will meet with legislators to discuss key issues affecting Wisconsin’s beef industry and strengthen their advocacy skills.
The year-long program is divided into quarterly workshops hosted by the two organizations. Each workshop will focus on unique aspects of leadership, communication, and advocacy.
Upon completion, participants will join a respected alumni network and may assist with tasks like media outreach, consumer education, and industry advocacy.
A $100 participation fee covers enrollment, while hotel accommodations, meals, and program expenses are sponsored by the hosting organizations.
