Federal grants are now available for organic dairy processors aiming to expand their reach to young consumers. Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered by the Dairy Business Innovation Alliance (DBIA), this initiative seeks to boost the distribution of organic dairy products to students and young adults aged 0-25 in schools, colleges, and youth organizations.
The DBIA, a collaboration between the Center for Dairy Research (CDR) and the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA), will allocate $3.75 million in competitive grants. These funds will cover costs related to the distribution of organic dairy products within DBIA’s 11-state service area, which includes Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
“This new funding presents opportunities to continue strengthening the Midwest organic dairy industry by reaching the next generation of consumers. We’re grateful to USDA for this new infusion of support for an industry with a proven track record of growth and success,” said Danica Nilsestuen, WCMA’s Director of Sustainability & Grants.
Interested businesses have until 5:00 pm CT on February 12th to submit grant proposals. For more information and application details, visit WisCheeseMakers.org/Grants.
