Wisconsin to Host National Outstanding Farmer Competition in '23

Some of the nation's best and brightest young farmers will be in America's Dairyland early next year as they compete for the 2023 Outstanding Farmers of America award.

Wisconsin is hosting the forum for the first time since the 1980s on February 16-19, 2023 in the Appleton area. The event had been scheduled for Green Bay in 2021, but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of the competition, ten finalists from around the country are chosen to compete as one of the top four winners. They are judged on the progress in their ag career, use of soil and water conservation, and contributions to their communities.

The Outstanding Farmers of America is comprised of past nominees of the Outstanding Young Farmer program. With approximately 1,500 members, the group is designed to facilitate an exchange of ideas and friendship that encourages excellence and involvement in agriculture and the local, state and national community.

Many of Wisconsin's OYF winners have gone on to compete at the national level, in which 21 have been chosen as winners. Kyle and Rachel Zwieg of Ixonia will compete as Wisconsin's nominees during the 2023 event.
