The Wuethrich Family/Grassland Dairy Center of Excellence at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls will hold its grand opening on Friday, October 20, 2023. The newly remodeled 6,000 square-foot dairy pilot plant is a state-of-the-art facility where students and others will receive high-level, hands-on training to work in the dairy industry.
The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by tours of the facility and a reception. The public is invited to attend. To register, visit https://events.idonate.com/grandopening.
The dairy pilot plant was made possible through a $1 million donation from the Wuethrich Family Foundation and Grassland Dairy Products, Inc. Nearly two dozen other organizations also contributed to the project, which cost nearly $9 million in total.
The new facility is equipped with the latest technology, including a commercial scale cheesemaking vat, a yogurt batch freezer, and a butter churn. Students and dairy industry employees will be able to use this equipment to learn about all aspects of dairy processing, from product development to quality control.
The Wuethrich Family/Grassland Dairy Center of Excellence is an asset to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and the dairy industry. It will help to ensure that the state's dairy industry continues to be a leader in innovation and production.
