Two workers received medical attention and State Highway 8 was closed down as a precaution after a reported chemical leak at the Jennie-O Turkey Store in Barron on Monday.
According to the Barron County Sheriff's Department, two chemicals, Anatox and Lysine, were mixed together accidentally in a tank outside the building. The mishap resulted in the release of a poisonous vapor into the air around the facility.
Emergency responders enacted precautionary measures until the situation was under control later in the morning.
Two employees drove themselves to local hospitals to be checked out. No other injuries were reported.
