This week’s episodes of The Dairy Signal from Professional Dairy Producers (PDP) will cover essential industry topics and preparation strategies for potential challenges.

Tune in on Tuesday for an update on highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in dairy cattle, and on Wednesday, learn about protocols to prepare for fires and tornadoes. The market news update with economist Ben Buckner will be featured on Thursday.

On Tuesday, get the latest news and research on HPAI. This episode will feature Dr. Keith Poulsen, PhD, director of the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (WVDL) at the University of Wisconsin, and Dr. Darlene Konkle, DVM, MS, DACVIM, state veterinarian for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.

They will provide valuable insights into how HPAI is affecting the dairy industry and what measures can be taken to mitigate its impact.

Wednesday’s episode focuses on emergency preparedness. Gerald Minor, chief of the Pittsville Fire Department, will discuss the protocols and processes that farms should have in place to handle fires, tornadoes, and other natural disasters.

Being prepared for emergencies is crucial for the safety and continuity of farm operations of any size.

As summer winds down, Thursday’s episode will provide updates on agricultural and dairy markets, exports, weather, and other factors that could affect your business through 2024.

Ben Buckner, chief grains and dairy analyst at AgResource Company, will share his expertise on market trends and forecasts.

Prairie Estates Genetics will sponsor episodes of The Dairy Signal in August 2024, ensuring that dairy producers have access to these valuable resources.

The Dairy Signal episodes are accredited through Dairy AdvanCE (DACE), allowing dairy producers, industry professionals, and students to earn continuing education units (CEUs) for watching live or recorded versions.
