Wisconsin egg production during June was 134 million eggs. That was 28 percent less than last year, but one percent higher than the previous month, according to the latest USDA Chickens and Eggs report.
The average number of all layers on hand was 5.29 million, about 29 percent less than in 2021, but up four percent from May 2022. Eggs per 100 layers for June were 2,534.
Nationally, U.S. egg production totaled 8.67 billion--down three percent from last year. Production included 7.39 billion table eggs, and 1.28 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.19 billion were broiler-type and 89.4 million were egg-type. The average number of layers during the month was 366 million, a four percent drop compared to a year earlier.
