Grow WI farm to school - win $250k grant

Grow WI farm to school - win $250k grant

By Blake Jackson

The Wisconsin Farm to School Grant Program is open for applications, offering crucial funding to connect kids with local farms and fresh food. Apply now through February 2nd, 2024, for your chance to share in up to $250,000 in grants!

This one-time opportunity aims to build stronger farm-to-school networks across Wisconsin. We're looking for innovative projects that will:

  • Spark partnerships: Collaborate with schools, early care facilities, and local farms to engage youth in exciting farm-to-school activities.
  • Expand initiatives: Grow existing programs or launch new ones, from garden projects and farm visits to cooking demonstrations and healthy meal options.
  • Measure impact: Collect data and showcase success stories to secure ongoing support and funding for farm-to-school efforts.

Be sure your project includes:

  • 3+ partners: School food service director, early care education director, or authorized nutrition program representative – all working together to engage youth.
  • Competitive proposal: Submit a clear plan outlining your project's goals, activities, and budget.
  • Match funding: Secure contributions equal to 25% of the grant award or 20% of the total project cost.

Grants range from $10,000 to $40,000 and cover eligible expenses like salaries, equipment, and materials. Selected projects will kick off in March 2024.
