The Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin says another group of speakers are set to take part in the online Dairy Signal program this week.
On Tuesday, Dr. Gavin Staley with Diamond V will take viewers on a deep dive into the production life span of a dairy cow and how it should impact managing a dairy farm and heifer numbers. Discussions will explore the typical age at which a dairy cow begins to make a profit, the optimal number of replacement heifers for a herd and culling factors that lower production life span.
Wisconsin dairy producers Jordan Matthews, (Rosy-Lane Holsteins), Tyler Raatz (Wagner Farms), and Jim Kusilek (Four Mile Creek Dairy) will be Wednesday's guests. They will share about their hiring and onboarding processes, qualifications for new employees, resources for finding new employees and the ongoing protocols once the right person is hired.
And on Thursday, Economist Dan Basse of AgResource Company will be back with his biweekly update on news and analysis of agricultural markets that will impact dairy producers and the ag industry.
All episodes are free and available to the public, accessible from www.pdpw.org. They are streamed live at 12:00 noon or available on demand for later playback.
