The Professional Dairy Producers (PDP) are hosting the 2024 Calf Care Connection workshop, offering dairy producers and their teams valuable insights on preventing and treating calf diseases, biosecurity practices, and more. Simultaneous Spanish translation will be provided.
“Calf Care Connection not only gives dairy producers and team members access to some of the leading researchers in calf care, it also provides networking opportunities with calf care managers from other dairies to share ideas and learn from each other,” said Patty Dolph, PDP board member and dairy producer from Lake Mills, Wis. “The latest information about preventing and treating disease is especially critical as we prepare for colder weather just around the corner.”
The workshop will be held in two locations:
- Tuesday, October 15th at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, Wisconsin
- Wednesday, October 16th at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore, Wisconsin
Each session starts at 9:00 am and concludes by 3:45 pm. Registration is now open.
The program features presentations from leading experts in calf health:
- Dr. Don Sockett will discuss biosecurity practices to prevent the spread of infectious diseases among calves, across the herd, and to humans.
- Dr. Theresa Ollivett will teach participants how to identify and diagnose calf pneumonia.
- Dr. Melissa Cantor will lead a session on managing calf scours, including identifying healthy and unhealthy calf intestines and best practices for prevention and treatment.
- Dr. Derek Foster will share new information on electrolyte therapy and other fluid treatments for scours.
The workshop is accredited for continuing education credits, making it a valuable opportunity for dairy professionals to enhance their knowledge and skills.
