Wisconsin has chosen its candidate to run for a national FFA officer position later this fall. Ben Styer from the Menomonie FFA has been selected to run for the title, in which he will compete for one of six spots in the country to help run the National FFA Organization and lead junior high and high school members for a year.
A 2020 graduate of Menomonie High School, Styer served as one of the state FFA vice presidents in 2020-21 prior to being elected state president the following year.
"This has been a goal of mine for a while," Styer told Wisconsin Ag Connection. "After serving as a state officer for two years, I kept the door open to the idea and since I had one last year of eligibility, I decided to give it a shot."
Styer is currently attending the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities double majoring in Animal Science and Agriculture & Food Business Management. He plans to return to his family's dairy farm upon graduation.
Each state is allowed to send one national officer candidate to the convention. The National FFA Convention takes place in Indianapolis in late October.
