The Wisconsin Beef Council is again helping high school teachers strengthen their lessons about beef selection and preparation with their students. The group is holding its next round of 'Beef in the Classroom' grants, in which agriculture and family & consumer science instructors can apply for reimbursement of $100 to $300 per school per year to cover the cost of such efforts.
"It is crucial to provide these students with the resources they need to understand how beef can play a role in their everyday lives," WBC Marketing Director Angie Horkan. "We are proud to offer these grants to stimulate conversations about raising beef, utilizing the product, and finding careers in the industry."
As part of the program guidelines, only beef products may be purchased with the money. And those products may only be used in a classroom or lab setting, and not for the purpose of school social functions.
The application period opens on September 19 and the deadline to apply is October 1.
