The Wisconsin Beef Council is aiming to tackle hunger through a two-week fundraising campaign in collaboration with Feeding Wisconsin, the umbrella organization for food banks across the state. All proceeds from the initiative will be used to purchase beef for families struggling with food insecurity. This fundraiser strengthens a longstanding partnership between the two organizations, with the Beef Council having already donated $7,000 to Feeding Wisconsin in previous efforts.
"Working together with food banks is crucial to ensure everyone has access to nutritious food," said Kaitlyn Kesler, Director of Communications and Outreach for the Beef Council. "Beef is an excellent source of protein, containing ten essential nutrients that are vital for healthy growth and development in children and maintaining strength throughout adulthood. By supporting this fundraiser, you're directly contributing to putting nutritious meals on the tables of Wisconsin families in need."
The Beef Council has partnered with a local apparel company to create a line of merchandise to support the fundraiser. These t-shirts, long-sleeved tees, and sweatshirts come in grey and black and feature illustrations of beef cuts alongside the message "You can't live a full life on an empty stomach." This campaign not only raises funds for Feeding Wisconsin but also serves as a reminder of the importance of food security and the role of beef as a source of essential nutrients.
The shirts will be available March 20-April 2 and can be purchased online at https://wi-beef-council.toppromotions.com/store/catalog.
The Wisconsin Beef Council, a non-profit organization, is funded through a $1 per head assessment on all cattle sold within the state, following the guidelines set forth by the Federal Beef Promotion and Research Act & Order. Half of these funds are directed towards local promotion efforts within Wisconsin, while the remaining half is forwarded to the Cattlemen's Beef Board for national research and education initiatives.
The Beef Council's mission is to promote Wisconsin's $2.1 billion beef industry through funding beef promotion, research, and consumer education activities. The organization is overseen by a Board of Directors comprised of representatives from various cattle-related organizations across Wisconsin.
