FSA County Committee Nomination Period Closes on Aug. 1

The Farm Service Agency is taking nominations in the 2022 local FSA county committee election process. Farmers, ranchers and other agricultural producers have until August 1 to nominate eligible candidates to serve on county committees.

FSA county committees help local farmers through their decisions on commodity price support loans, conservation programs and disaster programs, and by working closely with county executive directors.

"Since its inception, the Farm Service Agency has worked in a unique partnership with the County Committee, local farmers, and ranchers, to represent their fellow producers and ensure that Federal Farm Programs are delivered equitability," said State FSA Director Gene Schriefer. "Yes, we're all working harder, and have less time, yes, there are fewer farmers today to serve on the County Committee, however we still have a need for enthusiastic, diverse leaders to serve other agricultural producers on these committees as we work to build equitable systems and programming inclusive of all employees and all of our farmers and ranchers."

To be eligible to hold office as a county committee member, individuals must participate or cooperate in a program administered by FSA, be eligible to vote in a county committee election and live in the local administrative area where they are running.

A complete list of eligibility requirements, more information and nomination forms are available at http://www.fsa.usda.gov/elections.
